The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods rated most excellent in the Mahoning Valley
for second straight year
(Boardman, OH)(November 4, 2013) — The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods is the only hospital in the Mahoning Valley to be ranked a top performer in surgical care by the Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission is one of the most respected healthcare rating services in the U.S. As a nonprofit organization focusing on public health, the Commission’s research-driven findings are regarded as unbiased and authoritative within the healthcare community.
In its annual review – Top Performer on Key Quality Measures – the Commission analyzed accountability data for thousands of hospitals across the country throughout 2012 and found Southwoods to be demonstrably excellent in surgical care. No other hospitals in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties achieved this designation. This is the second year in a row Southwoods has earned a spot on this prestigious list.
“We strive daily to provide our patients with the best surgical and clinical care, combined with the most efficient and pleasant experience one could find at any hospital in the country,” says Southwoods CEO Ed Muransky. “ This latest Joint Commission designation validates what our administrators, doctors and nurses do on behalf of our patients. And it further reinforces our belief that hospitals today must focus not just on treatments but how our patients are treated as people.”
