Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a specialized imaging modality that uses a magnetic field without radiation to produce high resolution 3-D images of the organs and structures inside the body. The amount of information provided by the exam is directly related to the strength of the magnetic field.

Southwoods is pleased to offer two 3T MRI’s, the strongest magnets in the area. In fact, at more than double the strength of many other local MRI units, Southwoods offers higher quality images, astonishingly precise anatomic detail and faster scan times for more accurate diagnoses. Our units offer noise reduction technology and are “wide-bore” – providing additional room for patients who are uncomfortable in confined spaces. All of these factors make Southwoods the premier provider of MRI imaging services in the Mahoning Valley.

You may not be a good candidate for an MRI if you have aneurysm clips, a pacemaker/defibrillator or certain types of cochlear implants. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask the MRI staff or the radiologist
