Southwoods Center for Breast Health
A compassionate, comprehensive approach to women’s health
While Southwoods Center for Breast Health is located inside Southwoods Imaging, it is not defined by the walls in which it resides. There is a full continuum of coordinated care offered which stretches across many locations to general surgeons, technologists, OB-GYN’s, primary care doctors, oncologists, nurse navigators and many others who are part of Southwoods Health’s constantly expanding network. This is what makes the patient experience different and why so many people in the Valley choose Southwoods. It’s not just about the treatment, but how you’re treated.
Technology that can save lives2>
Diagnostic imaging technology provides more accurate diagnosis. This technology includes:
– Digital Mammography
– Tomosynthesis (3D technology)
– Breast Ultrasound Examinations
– Breast Elastography
– 3T Breast MRI
– Same-day biopsies
Southwoods Center for Breast Health seamlessly guides patients through the diagnostic process which provides fast, definitive, reliable results.
Nurse Navigators are able to dramatically improve a patient’s experience by:
– Acting as a personal patient advocate to ease stress and uncertainty
– Explaining all imaging and pathology reports
– Discussing medical options
– Simplifying complex medical language
– Reducing time between a questionable screening result to a clear diagnosis and
– Listening and caring, so no patient feels they are going through this fight alone
Southwoods Center for Breast Health is at the forefront for innovative screening methods including breast elastography, a breakthrough clinical study using ultrasound to measure if a mass is cancerous or benign. In most cases, elastography identified cancers in women where nothing had been detected through mammography. Elastography reduces the number of potentially unnecessary biopsies which also reduces the potential for unnecessary worrying.
The area’s most advanced diagnostic technology in the healing hands of Southwoods’ team of professionals offers the ultimate patient environment.
