Southwoods Center for Breast Health
A compassionately comprehensive approach to women’s health
While Southwoods Center for Breast Health is located inside of Southwoods Imaging, it cannot not be defined by the walls in which it resides. The full continuum of coordinated care that Southwoods Center for Breast Health offers stretches across many locations to the general surgeons, technologist, OB-GYN’s, primary care doctors, oncologists, nurse navigators and many others that are all part of Southwoods Health’s continually expanding network. This is what makes the entire patient experience different at Southwoods Center for Breast Health and why so many people in the Valley choose Southwoods.
Southwoods Center for Breast Health offers patients a truly comprehensive personalized approach that’s not just about the treatment, but how you’re treated.
Technology that can save lives
One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lives. That’s why we offer a full-suite of complementary diagnostic imaging technologies that allow for more accurate diagnosis including:
– Digital Mammography
– Tomosynthesis (3D technology)
– Breast Ultrasound Examinations
– Breast Elastography
– 3T Breast MRI
– Same-day biopsies
By teaming these services together, Southwoods Center for Breast Health seamlessly guides patients through the diagnostic process in a way that provides fast, definitive and reliable results.
Currently, the national average time from breast cancer detection to an actual treatment plan is 28 days. Our Nurse Navigators at Southwoods are able to dramatically reduce this time to just a few days, by:
– Acting as your personal patient advocate to ease the stress and uncertainty
– Explaining all Imaging and Pathology reports
– Discussing your medical options
– Simplifying complex medical language
– Reduce time between a questionable result found on a screening mammogram to a clear diagnosis and treatment plan from a few weeks to a few days
– Listening and caring, so that no patient feels they are going through this fight alone
Southwoods Center for Breast Health remains at the forefront for innovative methods of screening. One method is breast elastography, a breakthrough clinical study that uses ultrasound to measure if a mass is cancerous or benign. Results from the study show:
o 20 percent of women required biopsies for suspicious masses
o 15 percent of biopsies were positive for cancer
o 4 percent of patients required biopsies for suspicious masses
o 75 percent of biopsies were positive for cancer
In most cases, elastography identified cancers in women where nothing had been detected through mammography. This is just another example of how Southwoods Center for Breast Health is improving a patient’s fight against cancer.
The area’s most advanced diagnostic technology in the healing hands of Southwoods’ team of professionals offers the ultimate patient environment.
